Pauline Smith aka Polly, had decided back in January to ride one of the 2019 Sparkle Tours, we decided the coastal and moors road of Devon and Cornwall would be the tour we would ride.

We met up on Southampton Harley-Davidson on Thursday afternoon and travelled to Bridgwater to meet the other Ladies on our tour. Sparkly purple gifts were exchanged over a very excitable and pleasant evening meal.

Day 1 on the Friday saw us all rise nice and early and head over to Riders where we were met by Gill Mogg, Director of Bridgewater Chapter where we received a lovely gift. Breakfast was consumed we were all ready to head off for our 1st stop Moto Velo in Crediton for coffee (and cake of course), there then followed the most scenic route through West Devon to our lunch stop Sam’s American diner in St Austell, (great veggie hot dogs).
We then head further West finally arriving at our hotel at Lands End just in time for a photo with the iconic sign post before the sun went down.
Fabulous day, riding around 200 miles. Dinner was had with much chat, laughter and a well earned beer while watching the sun go down through the restaurants window, a special moment shared by all 14 Harley Lady riders.

Day 2, After a lovely breakfast we all loaded up and headed along the scenic North Cornwall coastal route towards Portreath. Wow the roads were amazing and watching all the ladies winding along the road in front was a magical moment as we came around a corner you saw the sea with the sun shining on it, we were so lucky 2 days great weather. Arriving at the Atlantic Cafe Bar, again a stop for coffee and cake, we all managed to park our bikes for a great photo with the sea behind us. Off again along the coast road to our lunch stop at The Travellers Rest Newquay. Then headed east to Tintagel for ice cream, I know we are always eating. After a quick look round off again over Bodmin moor to our hotel Jamaica Inn ,Bolventor. What a great place, it was supposed to be haunted , but luckily we didn’t see anything. Approx 130 miles today so a well earned meal and beer was had. More chat, laughter and a live video chat with the other Sparkle tours.

Day 3. Up loaded and headed to our 1st stop, over the stunning Dartmoor were we had to be careful of the wooly rocks, and yes they do move and nearly knocked one of our riders off. It had to be done, Cream tea at the Two Bridges hotel, hence the photo of us on one of the bridges. More stunning scenery over Dartmoor past the prison on to Slapton Sands. There a short stop before onto our final destination of Plymouth H-D approx 110 mils today. We had a great welcome from everyone at the dealership, a goody bag and a gorgeous cake. It was a very sad moment to say goodbye to these lovely ladies who we had shared many scenic miles with. We stayed the night with friends then headed home on Monday, nearly 800 happy miles done by me door to door. I cannot fault the planning Jules,Emma, Debz and Julie had put into this weekend. Everything was just fantastic. So a big thumbs up from Polly and me for the Sparkle Tours.
